Sushi Etiquette

Seeing as how I’m one of those guys who would typically make a blend of soy sauce and wasabi while eating sushi, I’m pretty glad I stumbled across this illustrated guide to sushi etiquette. Because apparently making “wasabi soup” is a sushi sin… Now I know… and now I’m hungry.

I am from Hawai’i and we are such rule breakers! I am so glad to have come across this, because we do all of the NO’s often. In our defense though, sushi has been marketed in “fast-food” style with break-apart wooden chopsticks at grocery markets, and quick in and out diners like Genki Sushi, and Zippy’s with musubi, bento plates and pre-packaged sushi. My favorite broken rule is the soy-wasabi soup which should be (in my opinion) a light brown color when done and served in hot-mild style…..though now that I know about this etiquette I will feel the guilt as I do so. Thanks!
