Two days ago, in a game between his Oakland Athletics and the Detroit Tigers, Japanese baseball star Hideki Matsui finally hit his 500th career home run.

He did not hit all 500 home runs while playing for a MLB team, though: combining the 168 he has hit in the USA in his Major League Baseball career with the 332 he smashed while on the Yomiuri Giants in Japan before making his US debut with the New York Yankees in 2003, you get the total of 500.
Not many players make it to a milestone like 500 home runs, but the 37-year old Matsui was able to do it. That’s reason for applause, and gives him another career highlight to go along with the MVP award he earned in the 2009 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Congrats on your accomplishment, Hideki!
