Akira Kurosawa is a cinematic legend, and with good reason. His movies have withstood the test of time, elevating him to one of the more significant names in modern cinema in the history of the medium.
The Criterion Cast recently featured an extensive look at his 1947 movie One Wonderful Sunday. In it, a Japanese couple spend a day together in Tokyo. It was filmed during the Occupation, and beautifully demonstrates some of the hardships felt by Japanese citizens at that tumultuous time.
