Couple days ago, J-Melo showed a pre-recorded interview of L’Arc~en~Ciel talking about their New York stop during their World Tour 2012. Each member was proud to see their giant billboard in Time Square since billboards in Japan aren’t usually that big and having their faces plastered around Madison Square Garden definitely felt nice! As hyde said in the interview, “It’s like seeing the Japanese flag.” I bet their fans from back home must be very proud and honored!
What makes this crazier is that the band isn’t even well-known here in the US and they still managed to fill up most of Madison Square Garden with barely any promotions. That’s pretty impressive!
Later in the interview, leader and bassist, tetsuya, said L’Arc~en~Ciel tries to make touring overseas as normal as their Japanese lives. It really shows because in every live during this World Tour, all the setups are almost identical so you can tell they went out of their ways to get all those giant monitors, light streams, pyro techs, feathers, and lights to work in all the venues. Being there at Madison Square Garden personally, I can say that I’ve gotten the full L’Arc~en~Ciel live experience and nothing short of it!
Here are three examples from L’Arc~en~Ciel’s World Tour 2012 and notice how their theme and setup stay relatively consistent!
By the way, Happy 1st of May! At the end of the month, I will be embarking on an adventure to Hawaii to see our boys again. Please look forward to my live report when I come back!
You can also catch my previous live report on the New York show right here! Feel free to skip to 7:23 to hear about the show itself. The intro stuff is mainly for my subscribers and friends.
