KKS at Anime Expo 2013
Anime Expo was last weekend and we at KKS had a wonderful time at the convention. The halls were filled with beautiful and intricate cosplays and you could really see all the effort they put into their costumes. The panels were lots of fun and provided a rare opportunity to meet with prominent members of the anime industry.
There were also a lot of U.S. premiere screenings of Aniplex’s Blue Exorcist: The Movie, FUNimation’s Wolf Children (subtitled not dubbed), and Garden of Words at Anime Expo. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to attend these screenings but let me tell you, those lines were monstrous! We were forced to stay at the end of the hall while they do crowd control and get people into the screening room. It was crazy! With a turnout like that, I was especially interested in Wolf Children and Garden of Words but alas, we were busy working (stickers and pins don’t hand themselves out). Don’t worry, we had fun talking to a lot of “NEW” KKS fans! 😉
We were also lucky enough to have someone recognize us. And by we and us, I mean Jason, the host of the candy reviews on our YouTube channel. It was pretty awesome to have somebody recognize one of us at such a large and crowded event. We are sure Yuna would have gotten a lot of attention.
And of course, the J-Music Live Viewing Event! Success? We think so! Over 180 people showed up to Perfume’s delayed broadcast! We were so amazed at that turnout. And VAMPS was so much fun! A friend of ours, Jason, and I ran around the theater room getting people excited for VAMPS show. Jason was about to hurl but he said it was worth the fun! Don’t miss out on the next Live Viewing event if you want to see Jason and I run a 5K marathon in the screening room!
All in all, we’ve met a lot of great people over the weekend! We discovered it was so much fun talking to people like the staff of Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation, the founder of Anime Expo, dedicated Perfume fans who flown out to LA just to see the broadcast, fans who were inspired by VAMPS’ music, and many others who helped made our time at Anime Expo a whole lot better! (If you were the group who kept screaming with us, we love you and miss you!)
If you weren’t able to make it this year, we hope you can attend AX next year so we can all spend time talking about creepy peach candy mascots. Who knows, we could eventually have our own panel! A man can dream. For now, enjoy some of these pictures we have took!
