A worldwide popular school idol group, μ’s from “Love Live!” had their final concert at Tokyo Dome on March 31st and April 1st as a compilation of their six years of work. This time Kawaii Kakkoi Sugoi blog was fortunate enough to join their very last day of this event on April 1st.

Concert had full of pleasant surprises even from the beginning. Lots of Love Live songs were playing during the seating and when they played their popular song “Snow halation,” the audience swung their pen lights as if it was the actual concert. When the last lyrics of this song’s first chorus ended with “Mamonaku Start!! (It’s About to Start!!)”, that was a sign to start the concert and the song faded away right after the lyrics.

First it started off with a new original animation, which looked like an after story of TV anime series, Love Live!. In the new animation, alpacas at their high school had a baby alpaca (alpaca got pregnant in the episode 13 of Love Live! 2nd season.) After that they showed all the venues where μ’s has played at as if they were showing the history of Love Live! and once they made it to this final show’s venue, Tokyo Dome, lights turned off and their first song, “Bokura No LIVE Kimi Tono LIFE” started playing. And yes finally μ’s appeared on stage!!

μ’s is a school idol group, which was born from school idol project “Love Live!”. At concerts, characters’ voice actors, Emi Nitta (Honoka Kosaka), Yoshino Nanjo (Eli Ayase), Aya Uchida (Kotori Minami), Suzuko Mimori (Umi Sonoda), Riho Iida (Rin Hoshizora), Pile (Maki Nishikino), Aina Kusuda (Nozomi Tojo), Yurika Kubo (Hanayo Koizumi) and Sora Tokui (Nico Yazawa) sing and dance. There were huge screens playing anime music videos in the back so that μ’s members’ performance would be synched with the screen. The animation displayed effects, lyrics or the cheers and response and that hyped up the audience.

The setlist was composed with Love Live!’s famous songs, unit songs, movie songs, new songs and encores.

Between the sets, they played a bonus footage “μ’s Chronicle” that looked back on a history of Love Live! with the voice actors’ interview. It has been six years since these two words “Love Live!” had appeared on Dengeki G’s Magazine for the first time. Their history started off from the school idol project on the magazine, first concert, TV anime series, movie and to this final live. It made the audience remember their memories with Love Live! for these past years while watching the footage.

Here’s the list of the new costumes from the concert:

Every time μ’s changed their costumes and came back on stage, fans gave them a scream of joy. Even from a faraway we could see the glitter from their costumes filled with sequins. They put an amazing effort into not only costumes but also their hairstyle. If the costume’s hairstyle is a bun, that cast will have a bun. If it’s braids, they will get braids. It really was a well done job to reenact characters with perfect outfits.

For each grade’s unit songs from the movie, they made a great use of props to reproduce music scenes.

As for props, I have to admit that the most impressive moment of this concert was when a giant flower shaped stage appeared in the middle of the hall for their very last song, “Bokutachi wa Hitotsu no Hikari.” First this stage had appeared with a closed bud and when the song started, the bud bloomed into a flower and μ’s members in “Bokutachi wa Hitotsu no Hikari” costume came out. As they danced and jumped around, small flowers and different color lights were projected on the stage and it was very fantastic.

In this song, “This Moment Is the Greatest!” was repeated over and over. I felt like these girls were expressing this message with their whole bodies as this line from the movie says: “I love school idols that try to shine within a limited time.” It’s not a past nor future but it is “now” that lies right in front of your eyes. It was a performance that μ’s members were shouting that this very moment is the greatest.

As soon as they finished singing the last song, this flower stage started moving back to the screen while playing “Bokutachi wa Hitotsu no Hikari” instrumental version. Casts stood in a circle saying “thank you for everything” to each other in tears and fans started singing “Bokutachi wa Hitotsu no Hikari” for μ’s. It was absolutely the most memorable moment on that day. I had felt everyone’s love towards Love Live! and μ’s deeply.

Since this concert at Tokyo Dome was μ’s final live, it got extremely competitive. Due to the high demands, they even opened up backstage seats where you can enjoy the side view although you cannot see the stage from the front. For those who couldn’t make it to the actual concert, live viewing was streamed at 221 theaters all over Japan and also in ten different countries in the world.

When Love Live! movies hit here North America last year, tickets were sold out at many theaters and that truly proved their worldwide popularity. Love Live!’s final live is now over, however they never fail to entertain fans with their updates. We cannot keep our eyes off for what comes next from “Love Live!”!!
