In celebration of its 30th anniversary, KODANSHA is hosting Ghost in the
Shell’s first-ever large-scale exhibition, chronicling the influential series’ legendary legacy across
manga, anime, film, and more. Taking place from January 30 through April 05, 2026, and taking
place at TOKYO NODE GALLERY in Toranomon Hills, “Ghost And The Shell” offers fans the
unique chance to experience the franchise’s monumental history, from the 1995 feature-length
film to the upcoming Science SARU anime releasing in 2026.
The “Ghost And The Shell” exhibition gathers over 1,600 archives, original artworks, and
manuscripts – including never-before-seen materials – from across the franchise’s history, while
also including contributions from directors Mamoru Oshii, Kenji Kamiyama, Kazuchika Kise, and
Shinji Aramaki. There will also be inclusions from the forthcoming The Ghost in the Shell anime
series, which Science SARU is animating for release later this year.
The space will also feature immersive and interactive exhibitions, incorporating content from
across the series’ comprehensive history. Exhibits such as TechnoByobu’s, in collaboration with
KALKUL – who previously worked alongside Aphex Twin and WEIRDCORE – bring Ghost in the
Shell into an all-new AR form, crafting a new reality that can only be experienced at the
exhibition.
There will also be over 100 unique Ghost In The Shell collaborative items on sale during “Ghost
And The Shell,” including works from artists Hajime Sorayama and Mai Yoneyama, as well as
handcrafted art pieces such as TechnoByobu’s TB-02 lineup – a special Japanese
gold-leaf-pressed folding screen featuring some of Ghost In The Shell’s most iconic artwork, as
well as their recently-announced HAC module series.
A preview of the TechnoByobu art pieces can be viewed below, alongside the full lineup:
These collaborative items, alongside over 100 other unique pieces, will be made available first
exclusively at the “Ghost And The Shell” exhibition that runs now until April 5th.
