Rune Naito was a Japanese illustrator from the 1950s – 1970s. He is credited with being one the originators of modern “KAWAII” culture. He died in 2007, 5 years ago, but his influence lives on in Japan and around the world, says tokyofashion. I really love his true retro styles.  Look at all the colors and patters. Naito’s 1960s artworks that went on to shape the aesthetic of kawaii, is truly amazing.
