Japanese boy group Bullet Train has been finding alternative ways to continue fan interactions despite the global pandemic.

Bullet Train (超特急) is an idol group under Stardust Promotions that consist of four main dancers and one back vocalist. They are known to be the little brother group of Stardust’s leading female idol group, Momoiro Clover Z. They revolve around a concept of extravagant performance, with the dancers dancing in the front of the stage, with the singer backing them up from behind.

With the recent departure of their most energetic member, Yusuke, and the cancellation of their scheduled tour “BULLET TRAIN ARENA TOUR2020 SPRING「WELCOME TO THE BULLET TRAIN DINER」” due to COVID-19, the members looked for ways to continue interacting with and motivating their fans, “Hachigousha”s, as many may be downhearted by recent events.

Each member has their own Instagram accounts, where they have been regularly going on live streams to interact in real time with their followers. They have also been putting together collab Instagram lives, where multiple members go live together, remotely. All of their live streams are archived into each member’s Instagram TV.

They have also been regularly updating their fanclub site and official youtube channel with new kinds of content, such as narration of a past performance, to even dance collaboration videos with children. Ryoga, Bullet Train’s leader and self-proclaimed “Hikikomori otaku,” has his own gaming channel on YouTube that he continues to update during this time.

More information on Bullet Train can be found on their official site and twitter account.
