A volunteer group called the Mineko Club came up with the idea of Zoo Jeans, distressed jeans created by animals, in order to revive the Kamine Zoo in Hitachi City. They wrapped fabric around some of the animals’ favorite toys and had them claw and gnaw at it. The resulting destroyed sheets of denim were put together to make one-of-a-kind jeans.
The jeans are currently displayed at the Kamine Zoo and those that were designed by lions (L1 and L2) and tigers (T1) are up for sale on Yahoo! Auctions. The auction will end on 7/14 (JST) and all proceeds will go to the Kamine Zoo as well as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). I hope drool and smell aren’t part of the design!
