Doraemon to air in US on Disney XD
The robotic cat that everyone and their parents have grown to adore is finally making its way to a US audience. TV Asahi has negotiated an agreement with Disney to broadcast Doraemon on its Disney XD channel.

The series is set to air five times a week and will be targeted to elementary-school aged children. With the anime having over 26 years’ worth of episodes (1787 episodes for the 1979 series) the series could be running on Disney XD for quite a while.
Fans of the series might be disappointed to hear that the official English version of Doraemon will be modified to meet the U.S.’s standards of the depiction of violence, discrimination, etc. in an attempt to appeal to a large English-speaking market. It is, after all, a kid’s show but let’s hope that the edits and modifications won’t be too drastic.
