Since celebrations often consist of flowers, Häagen-Dazs Japan has decided to incorporate flowers in these fall-only flavors to make them 華やか (“hanayaka” = glamorous, but “hana” also means flower). The two flavors are 30th Anniversary Sakura and Rose. Sakura consists of sakura sauce (wow, that exists?), which makes the ice cream sour and gives it a nice cherry blossom smell, and cherry sauce to sweeten it up. Rose is made with Damask rose sauce and plum sauce that are swirled in strawberry ice cream. They say the plum sauce makes it rich and a little acidic.
Definitely 華やか, but they sound and look more like perfume to me. What do you guys think?
