I had no idea how popular the whole Vocaloid thing was in Japan, but it’s pretty insane! So there’s a song called Cantarella created using Hatsune Miku and Kaito that’s going to be adapted into a musical. As the song title hints, the musical will be about the tragedy of The Borgias, a family most known for corruption after one of them was Pope from 1492 to 1503. (Cantarella was used by the Borgias to poison their victims). Here’s the summary:
“1495-1496 Rome. Rodrigo Borgias used Machiavellianism to work his way up to Papacy. The Borgias live majestically, but it isn’t enough. Maybe having power will bring happiness. This is the tragic story of Rodrigo, his three children, and the family heirloom, cantarella.”
The musical will show from 8/3-8/7 at Space Zero in Shibuya. Here’s the song:
Another interesting thing about this musical is that an idol from Nico Nico Douga, which is like YouTube for us, will debut as an actress in the musical. She goes by Otouto no Ane (Little Brother’s Older Sister) and was chosen for the part due to her singing ability and for getting 1,450,000 views on a video of her singing The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku – Dead End – on Nico Nico. This is her singing a Vocaloid medley:
I guess the next Antoine Dodson‘s Japanese.
