Our buddies over at Letsugo! posted another heads-up to a Japanese culture-themed event of interest….the Cherry Blossom Festival! As the Fest’s official site outlines,

The Festival is now in its 9th year and will be held on April 10th and 11th 2010. It is a free admission festival with the main entrance point at 1s Street & Central near the Hawaiian Village. However, the Festival will also stretch into Lot 7 (between the Japanese American National Museum and East West Players) and into the Japanese Village Plaza. It is produced by a 100% volunteer team, which includes more than 200 day of event volunteers as well as volunteer entertainment and performers.  It is supported by private donations and sponsors and boasts a 2009 attendance of over 45,000.

Kellye Nakahara Wallett, an actress known for her role as Nurse Kellye on the TV program M*A*S*H, was a part of the inception of the Cherry Blossom Festival, and is now a resident of Pasadena, where she is a Commissioner of the Pasadena Arts Council. She has been vital to the success of the Festival, which moved from Pasadena to Los Angeles in 2007 and continues with this upcoming event in April.

There will be craft vendors, a fashion show, and all sorts of other cool things going on, so check out the Cherry Blossom Festival if you’re in to this sort of event!

Here’s the link to the .PDF file of all the event’s information and attractions.

And thanks to Letsugo! for the heads-up once again. 🙂
