I set out once again to discover some indie bands from Japan and found quite a few acts. Most of these videos were obviously created on much lower budgets than PVs for bigger bands. Meaning some of these videos aren’t exactly spectacular looking. Still, some of them look really great. Either way its cool to see how artists make use of their resources to visually compliment their music.

Mudy On The 昨晩 (mudy on the Sakuban) “PERSON! PERSON!!”
Mudy On the Sakuban play instrumental math rock. This video reminded me of the Beastie Boys video for “Sabotage”.

The Novembers “彼岸で散る青” (Higan de Chiru Ao, By Nirvana Falling Blue)
A very cool looking animated paint video set to The Novembers’ moody rock.

I haven’t come across too many Japanese bands with a noisy, heavy and angular sound like Mo’some Tonebender. Watching the video, I’m reminded of bands like The Refused and The Dead Kennedys.

Ogre You Asshole “ロープ” (Rope)
Very laid back psych rock set to some relaxing neon visuals.

and here’s another cool looking video by Ogre You Asshole:

Serph “Luck”
Serph is an electronic act making chip tune type stuff that is similar in some ways to Flying Lotus.

Paradise “クレッシェンド”
The quality of Paradise’s bizarre minimal video and lofi rock are curiously interesting.

Kidori Kidori “Say Hello!! (I’m not a slave)”
This is a simple video for Kidori Kidori, who kinda sound seem to draw a lot of influence from The B-52s, but sound a bit heavier.
