Makoto Shinkai’s new film, “Your Name” has earned 10 billion yen (about $98 million) in less than a month. This movie hit theaters on August 26th and they already reached 10 billion yens on September 22nd, which took them only 28 days. It is a first anime movie to earn over 10 billion yen since “The Wind Rises” by Hayao Miyazaki in 2013.

Makoto Shinkai debuted with a short film, “Voices of a Distant Star” and he won many awards with this. He has been receiving many honorable awards both nationally and internationally and we can say that he’s one of the most popular animation creators in the world today.

Makoto Shinkai’s new film, “Your Name (“Kimi No Na Wa.” in Japanese”) portrays a boy and a girl with an breathtakingly beautiful background, which people call as “Shinkai World.” It is a drama about a boy and girl who switches each other’s bodies during their dreams and the “distance” created by two characters who have a totally different life style.

This movie’s slogan is “This Summer, Japan Falls in Love.” It seems like most Japanese people already fell in love this summer.
