After interviewing some fans at Anime Expo 2012, I (Jason) had decided to check out Madoka Magica the Anime series. To my surprise, this is one of those Anime that you should not judge because of the art style. While it does look all cute-sy & girl-y, Madoka Magica has a very heavy dark story. The characters in the Anime has to deal with the hardships of being a Magical Girl because the burden they traded their wish for is not worth the pain and suffering. Throughout the series, Homura tries her best to prevent the main character, Madoka, from becoming a Magical Girl while concealing her burden/secret from all their friends.
Shortly after the series ended, it was announced that there is going to be a movie trilogy. The first two movies will retell the story while the third one will be the aftermath. You can catch both part 1: Beginnings and Part 2: Eternal at The Downtown Independent in Los Angeles, CA from Oct. 19th to October 25th.

I believe these two movies will be a great medium in retelling the 12-episode series because even though I liked the series, I could not help but find myself annoyed by the pacing of the story. Honestly, I didn’t have a change of heart until episode 10 when everything made sense. However, I would have to say it was somewhat worth it to go through the pacing.
