SEKAI NO OWARI will be in charge of the theme songs for the “Shingeki no Kyojin (“Attack on Titan“)” live-action film scheduled to hit theaters this summer.

The movie will be released in 2 parts: “Shingeki no Kyojin ATTACK ON TITAN” on August 1 and “Shingeki no Kyojin ATTACK ON TITAN End of the World” on September 19. SEKAI NO OWARI will sing the theme songs for both movies.

For Part 1’s theme song “ANTI-HERO“, SEKAI NO OWARI teamed up with Dan The Automator, who is known for producing Gorillaz and Kasabian. It will be released as the band’s new single on July 29. Meanwhile, the theme song for Part 2 titled “SOS” was produced with Ken Thomas, the producer for Sigur Ros, in London. The release date for this song will be revealed at a later date.

Fukase (Vo), who wrote the lyrics for “ANTI-HERO”, commented, “The song’s theme is ‘villainous love song.’ When protecting an important person, I don’t want to hesitate, nor do I want to care about the public eye. I started writing with these feelings.”

Saori (Piano), who wrote the lyrics for “SOS”, expressed, “After watching this movie, which has the theme ‘battle,’ I wrote the lyrics thinking ‘protecting someone is the same as protecting yourself.’ It would make me happy if people would enjoy this song towards the end of the movie.”

Finally, actor Miura Haruma, who plays the role of “Eren” in the film, said, “The inner theme of ‘Shingeki no Kyojin’ is exquisitely represented in the lyrics, rhythm, and melody. It’s a wonderful and addictive song. The more you listen to it, the more it possesses you.
