Sound! Euphonium is a highly acclaimed concert band anime series produced by Kyoto Animation. Over the course of approximately 11 years, the story has continued to resonate with audiences, and with the two-part Final Movie, the beloved series will finally reach its conclusion.
Alongside the announcement of the Japanese release date, the main trailer and first key visual for Part 2 have been unveiled.
The newly released trailer centers on protagonist Kumiko Oumae and her rival Mayu Kuroe. Through their dialogue, the video powerfully conveys their inner conflict and determination as they prepare for their “final performance.” The trailer also features numerous newly animated scenes, including glimpses of Mayu in her childhood and shots of the concert band leaders gazing up at the competition venue, Nagoya Congress Center’s Century Hall, where the National Competition takes place. The result is a richly layered and compelling preview filled with highlights.
The first key visual, revealed alongside the trailer, depicts Kumiko and Mayu performing on the euphonium. Their expressions reflect a strong sense of resolve, while subtly hinting at the uncertainty they carry, creating a striking and emotionally resonant image.
Introduction
The series finally reaches its grand finale.
This journey becomes the next piece of music—
For over a decade, the Sound! Euphonium series has portrayed the youth of high school
students devoted to the concert band. Following the emotional conclusion of Sound!
Euphonium 3, which aired in 2024, the story returns to theaters in 2026 as the definitive final
chapter, “The Final Movie.”
For this Final Movie, Tatsuya Ishihara, who has led Kyoto Animation’s production team for the
past 10 years, serves as Chief Director, while Taichi Ogawa, who has been a key figure
throughout the series, takes on the role of Director.
In addition to refined animation throughout the film, Jukki Hanada has newly written the
screenplay, and numerous new scenes have been added. The film also features performance
sequences not depicted in the TV series, making it a theatrical work truly worthy of its title as
the “Final Chapter,” brought to life by the entire staff.
A decade-long journey—moving beyond.
The curtain rises on the final year, the culmination of the Sound! Euphonium anime series.
