Square Enix fans no longer need to fly to Japan to experience Square Enix Cafe! The permanent Square Enix Cafe has officially opened in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, with themed food, drinks, and merchandise inspired by some of the company’s most popular franchises.
The cafe soft opened to the public today. During our visit, the menu featured items inspired by Final Fantasy, NieR, and Dragon Quest.
We decided to try menus from different worlds. I went all in on Dragon Quest, while my friend chose Final Fantasy.
We started with the drinks. I ordered the Squishy She-Slime, a fizzy mango strawberry drink inspired by Dragon Quest‘s iconic slime monsters. My friend got the Cloud, a pineapple juice-based drink inspired by Final Fantasy VII. Both were colorful, refreshing, and fun.
For the main dish, I couldn’t resist ordering the Liquid Metal Slime Curry. The metallic shine was a clever touch that made the dish instantly recognizable. Best of all, the curry was delicious and not spicy at all.
We also tried the Midgar Fondue Pizza. I couldn’t believe they recreated Midgar with pizza! It was a clever tribute to Final Fantasy VII, and the detailed design made it both visually impressive and fun to share.
For dessert, I stayed loyal to Dragon Quest and ordered the Slime Pancake. It was almost too cute to eat, but thankfully it tasted just as good as it looked. My friend ordered the Warrior of Light No-Bake Cheesecake Mousse, which was rich and creamy.
Beyond the food, the cafe also offers exclusive T-shirts and other merchandise. During our visit, they were still working on a large mural outside, and I can’t wait to see the finished version.
Whether you’re a longtime fan of Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, or NieR, there’s something here for every Square Enix fan. They’re having their grand opening on June 20, making this a side quest you won’t want to skip.
