Japan’s National Tourism Organization released a map of the country this week…but it’s not your average road map.

Capitalizing on the worldwide popularity of its anime and manga markets, this map is designed for “otakus”. The very detailed and brightly colored map, which you can view/download here (part 1) and here (part 2) highlights all of the various otaku districts in the country, including Akihabara, Nipponbashi, and Nakano Broadway, among others.

If you’re planning to pay a visit to Japan and immerse yourself in the finest anime/manga entertainment but don’t know where to go, you might want to pick up one of these handy maps.

  1. I did too…the JNTO doesn’t quite call it an “otaku” map, rather they call it an “anime” map (probably because of the negative connotations of “otaku”, obviously)…but the article I linked to at Forever Geek did call it “otaku”. Hence my use of quotation marks. 🙂
