Night-of-the-Living-Dead-Origins

This is as strange as it is intriguing…apparently someone is developing a remake of George Romero’s classic zombie film Night of the Living Dead, but doing so with a CGI 3D version entitled Night of the Living Dead: Origins.

As this article states,

Night Of The Living Dead: Origins will update the original tale by fleshing out the backstories of the characters. De Soto, who co-wrote the script with David R. Schwartz calls his version “an American-style anime.”

So….what exactly is ‘American-style anime’? This is an interesting phrase made by the film’s writer. Considering how the movie is apparently going to be mostly or entirely 3D and CGI, this could potentially be pretty awesome. Of course, it could also be a big mess. No one has really been asking for another zombie movie remake, but this sounds fresh enough to possibly be worthwhile.

We’ll keep you posted if we come across any more articles about this film and what aspects, if any, it will share with anime style. It’s too interesting a concept to ignore. The fact that the articles discussing this story don’t really mention any Japanese connections to the production, that could mean this won’t end up being very ‘anime’ at all, but I guess time will tell.

I just hope the movie isn’t a big disappointment, as people have probably had their fill of lame zombie movie remakes in the past few years. It’s gotten a bit stale lately.

What do you think? Does this sound interesting at all?
