Japanese actor Shun Oguri has been confirmed to make his first hollywood appearance joining the upcoming monster film Godzilla vs. Kong. Although the role he is to play is not yet announced, it is said that Oguri will be playing an important role in this sequel to Kong: Skull Island (2017). The film also stars Kyle Chandler, Zhang Ziyi, Millie Bobby Brown, etc.

The film’s producer Alex Garcia explained that Legendary and director Adam Wingard have thought highly of Oguri’s work from the first time they saw him in director Takashi Miike’s Crows Zero and Crows Zero II, to more recently with Gintama. Garcia is extremely thrilled that Oguri is joining the MonsterVerse franchise’s Godzilla vs. Kong.

Having recently transitioned his career from television to film, Shun Oguri has made great success in his leading roles in live-action anime films such as Lupin the third and Gintama. This Hollywood debut will mark a significant leap in Oguri’s international fame.

The film Godzilla vs. Kong is currently slated for May 22, 2020.
