J-pop performer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s 2012 single “Candy Candy” helped make the Harajuku artist the face of Japanese pop culture globally in the 2010s and shaped the sugary side of electronic music in the decade after.

One creator inspired by that song is France-born, Tokyo-based Moe Shop, who has made a name for themselves blending the club-ready sounds of their home country with the rainbow-bright melodies of Japan. The two officially cross paths with Moe Shop’s official remix of “Candy Candy,” available on all major platforms on April 21, ahead of the pair touring North America this May.

Only the second official remix of a Kyary Pamyu Pamyu song to date, Moe Shop adds an electro shell and disco taste to the song while retaining the sticky vocals that helped make it a hit in the first place. It’s a significant milestone for Moe Shop, and a new angle on a familiar hit from the J-pop star.

Moe Shop joins Kyary Pamyu Pamyu on the North American leg of her WORLD TOUR 2023 – POPPP – this May, opening shows in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. It’s a chance to see one of J-pop’s most influential artists alongside a creator heavily inspired by her music.
