Working on a foam base will prevent scratches on your table!

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-3It is recommended to separate the wool roving in plastic bags as they could pick up the other colors very easily.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-4Tape two foam together so it adds an extra cushion to prevent scratches on your table.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-5Let’s practice making couple of felted balls first. Once you master this, making the Tsum Tsum plushies will be easy!

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-6Start by rolling the white thick wool roving into a ball and then hook and stab it. Be careful not to stab yourself!

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-7 tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-8It should slowly become a ball that is not too soft and not too firm. This is the just the base of the ball. Let’s add color to it.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-9Pull some wool fibers from a color wool. Pull gently and slowly so the fibers separate easily. Tugging fast and hard will not get you anywhere.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-10Wrap the color wool around the white ball and stab. Add more color wool if necessary.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-11 tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-12Alternatively, you can use this clover needle tool but please use extra precaution! This will allow you to work faster.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-13Now you might notice the ball has a lot of holes from the stabbing. It is easy to fix that. Simply smooth it out with your fingers and lightly stab the areas until it smoothes out.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-14Like so.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-15OK! Now that you’re a needle felting master, it’s time to make Santa Mickey Tsum Tsum! Yay!

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-16For the colors, you will need white, red, black, beige (or light brown). Don’t forget you need white thick wool roving because you need an oval base!

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-17Apply the same principles from earlier when you made the felted ball and make a felted oval. Roll and stab different directions to achieve the desired shape.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-18It should look like this. Make it as big as you want. The bigger it is, the more wool you will need!

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-19Take some black fiber and wrap it around the oval. Ideally, you want to cover a little less than half the oval. Go ahead and stab it in until it looks like this!

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-20Next, add red fibers to cover up all the white. This is the Santa outfit.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-21Use white fibers for the collar. Stab the white fiber strip between the black and red.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-22By the way, it’s okay to leave a little white here because we will cover it with Mickey’s face.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-23Since it’s hard to find the correct color wool for Mickey’s face, we will just take a bit of white fiber and a bit of beige fiber. Cut and fuse them together.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-24 tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-25Stab until it’s flat and stab it onto the oval base.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-26It is recommended you have a picture of Mickey in front of you as you shape the face. Or here’s a helpful picture from us underneath!

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-27 tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-28Similar to how we did the white collar, use black fiber and give Mickey a belt!

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-29Now it’s time to make the ears. Stab black wool fibers into two circles. It is important that you leave extra fiber at the end so that it helps to make the connection with the body.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-30So it should look like this. Stab the extra fiber into the head.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-31 tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-32It should look like this!

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-33Next up, make the Santa hat. Same thing. Leave extra fibers to make connections with the oval.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-34Tail.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-35Hands and Feet. By the way, if you accidentally misplaced any of the pieces, simply pull it out and smooth out the errors like how we showed you earlier.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-36Before stabbing in the eyes and nose, poke some holes to make marks. This will help you visualize where the eyes and nose will go so you don’t have to keep aligning them later.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-37 tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-38If you have too much fiber, cut the excess and stab in the rest.

tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-39 tsum-tsum-plushies-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-40

Lastly, you want to shave off any fibers that are sticking out with a pair of scissors.

tsum-tsum-needle-felted-kawaii-kakkoii-sugoi-8Voila! What did you think? It isn’t hard to make these Tsum Tsum plushies but it will take a lot of patience!! Ganbatte!
